Self-doubt can sabotage success faster than many other issues entrepreneurs face. “Imposter Syndrome” creeps in quickly telling us we aren’t good enough, smart enough, or worthy enough to be successful. While it’s natural to have these feelings, we can’t agree with the negative self-talk that wreaks havoc in our minds.
In order to overcome self-doubt on your entrepreneurial journey, take the following four actions to become re-energized so you can stay on track.
1 – Focus on Your Purpose
Your purpose is bigger than a business. It’s about your life and legacy. It’s about your impact on the world in your generation. It’s about fulfilling your God-given calling while you live on the Earth. Anything worth doing is often challenging. Staying focused on your purpose is vital to pushing through when you want to give up.
2 – Remember Why You Started
Businesses are started because of a vision that an entrepreneur first has in their minds. The vision energizes us to take action to turn it into reality. When you face obstacles, the vision is what has the power to pull you forward even if you’re ready to quit. Don’t forget why you began in the first place. You had a vision…a dream…a calling. When you find yourself in a dark place ready to throw in the towel, reflect on why you started so you can regain your focus and energy.

3 – Imagine the Pain of Not Achieving Your Vision
Entrepreneurship is like a long, winding road on an adventurous journey. Imagine starting out on a trip only to quit halfway through. You’re stuck between what was and what could be. You have a choice to make. At this moment, it’s critical to evaluate what the cost of not persisting will be. What will you think if you’re laying on your deathbed evaluating your life? Will you be glad you quit or would you be disappointed? Imagine looking back 5-10 years from now. How will you feel if you don’t persevere? Let the emotions sink in. Are you willing to live a life of “what ifs”? These are the thoughts and questions that will determine whether you pursue your vision or give up.
4 – Write Down the Consequences of Quitting
Make a list of what will happen to you, your customers, or clients if you don’t continue. Are the consequences acceptable to you? What will happen if people never receive your book, course, or coaching? What will happen if your products or services never enter the world? Remember that your business may start with you, but it’s not ultimately about you. It’s given to you by God so your solutions can benefit others. Evaluate your list of consequences on the days that you feel like giving up, then decide what your next steps need to be.
Entrepreneurship isn’t easy and it can often play tricks on your mind. However, there is a way to overcome self-doubts and limiting beliefs. Implement these four actions when you feel like you’re hitting a wall so you can press on to go after your vision and serve your ideal customers or clients.
