There is wisdom in waiting for many things in life, but too many entrepreneurs procrastinate and feel frustrated when things don’t happen fast enough.
In order to achieve results, you can’t just sit on your hands and wait. You must keep moving forward, even if it is a slow, painful crawl.
When you find yourself feeling stuck and frustrated with a lack of progress, take the following steps:
Pray
Many people struggle with connecting faith and business. If that describes you, know that you’re not alone. However, consider that we spend at least one-third of our lives working. Many people spend much more time than that, especially entrepreneurs. Your work is important to God. Hopefully, your business is aligned with your God-given gifts and abilities. When you aren’t seeing the results you desire, slow down and pray. Ask God to cut away the distractions and clutter in your mind. Ask Him to give you fresh ideas and clear next steps to take. Ask Him to show you how your business can accomplish His purposes in the lives of others. Be still and listen. Write down the thoughts and ideas that come to you. Prayer is a powerful activity that can lead to breakthroughs in all areas of your life, even your business.
Go After Low-Hanging Fruit
It’s normal to want to hit a home run or catch the “big whale” customer or client every day. However, much business success comes from the compounding interest of small to medium-sized clients or contracts. Think of it as hitting singles and doubles in baseball terms. Those hits eventually score runs. Home runs are amazing but rare. If you look around for easy opportunities, they can compound into big wins. Who is right around you that you can help? It may not lead to a huge sale at first, but it will give you momentum and possibly open new doors of opportunity.

Connect With Your Network
You are surrounded by people who know others you can help. Too many entrepreneurs isolate themselves and neglect their network of relationships that could be an amazing “street team” or “sales army” for them. Think about it. When you have a friend who offers a great service, don’t you recommend him or her to others? When you connect (or re-connect) with your network, you give yourself an amazing advantage over others who remain isolated and distant. Yes, much of business is done online today from the comfort of your home or office, but never forget the power of personal connections. People want to promote you when you build quality relationships and are willing to reciprocate.
Ask for Introductions
One mistake many entrepreneurs make is not asking people to connect them to others they may be able to help. When you’re meeting with someone, ask them to introduce you to those you could help. When you have a satisfied customer, ask them to recommend you to someone in their network. Don’t simply ask for names to call or email. Ask people to make personal introductions for you. These are more powerful because they carry more weight in initial conversations.
There are certainly slow seasons in business. Not every day is “Black Friday” that results in massive sales. However, don’t just sit back and wait for things to happen. Take consistent, prayerful, calculated action. When you do, results will come little by little until the momentum kicks in and you begin to see massive results.
